The Boss BE-5M is a vintage, Japanese-made hybrid analog and digital multi-effects floor unit released in the early 1990s as part of Boss's BE-5 series.
Built-in Effects & Circuits
Compressor: Based on the Boss CS-2 circuit.
Overdrive / Distortion: Based on the Boss OS-2 circuit.
Chorus: Based on the Boss CE-2 circuit.
Digital Delay: Based on early Boss DD-2 / DD-3 digital delay technology.
Noise Suppressor / Gate: Built-in noise gate with threshold control.
Programmability & Operation
Patch Memory: Can store up to 8 programmable patches.
Stored Parameters: Each patch saves the effect on/off status, effects loop status, and output level(adjustable over 32 steps).
Operation Modes: Features Play Mode, Manual Mode, and Write Mode for direct stomp-box style control or preset switching.
Connectivity & Hardware
Inputs: 1/4" guitar input jack.
Outputs: Stereo outputs (Output A/Mono and Output B) plus a dedicated headphone jack.
Effects Loop: External Send/Return loop allowing external pedals to be placed in the middle of the signal chain.
Tuner Out: Dedicated 1/4" tuner output jack.
